The F5-Studio's oil finish intentionally gives it that comfortably worn look, with each mandolins appearance being unique. It also allows for character in the wood to be visible along with more of a vintage / distressed appearance-- kinda like your favorite pair of jeans or an old leather jacket. Most importantly, it allows for the vibrating spruce and maple woods to be less restricted by a harder finish. This results in tone and volume that also sound aged right from the start.
